Intimates and loungewear wishlist
I’m not sure if I’ve ever been so excited about a list in my life. Happy birthday and welcome to your new loungewear life filled with sexy, functional pieces that celebrate your body and you! This is a meaty list and thanks to Black Friday Deals, it will be more affordable. (Hooray!) You may opt to get some things and skip others or get it all. That’s totally up to you. In this case, all choices are good choices. Let’s begin!
We’re all about multitaskers here. So, many items will work as loungewear and as undergarments. These two are ideal examples of that approach. The long sleeve choice is a super comfortable, flattering option from Skims. You can say whatever you want about Kim Kardashian, but there’s no question the woman has mastered the art of no show undergarments. Try this for working from home, lounging or even climbing into bed.
The option on the right is from my beloved Negative Underwear. The brand is not cheap, that’s for sure. But the products are truly glorious. Soft, well made, very lightweight and still effective. The Whipped Collection (of which this is a part) is sheer, so just know that it has extra sex appeal but won’t be appropriate in front of your daughter without a bralette or something underneath (or on top). But I HIGHLY recommend it for you. AND, you can use this as the slip underneath your dresses, when necessary.
You run cold and keeping you warm is not only more comfortable, it’s important for your health. A super soft plush robe is the answer and we can pick one up that isn’t frumpy when paired with the other sexy items on this list. And let’s hear it for cozy socks instead of (or in addition to) slippers. This pair is from Negative so you know they’ll be amazing.
The Lunya silk pajama set was a win for you, but it shrunk. And, it’s pricey. Quince has a very similar version that is a super deal on any given day. My hope is that it will be even better for the Black Friday weekend. Whichever color palette you opt for, I love the idea of multiple pieces that all mix and match effortlessly together. Personally, I’m into this palette because it has a nude vibe. Typically, I wouldn’t recommend that. But, I feel like this makes it possible to walk the line between sexy and appropriate to wear with Sierra. I vote for all of these, but feel free to pick and choose what speaks to you. And really, any of the colors are a win.
A super cozy robe is essential for you. And, it’s true, you may opt to skip the less warm silk option. I really adore this one for you because it has sex appeal, is great for warmer weather and is timeless. Layer it over lingerie or pajamas for an equally compelling situation.
While I LOVE the Negative Underwear option up top, it’s currently not available in nude, white or light grey (typically colors for the piece). So, let’s make sure you have something you can layer underneath any of your skirts or dresses to ensure things don’t feel see through. You only need one of these. Grab your favorite.
Keeping you warm without sacrificing style is essential. Cozy indoor socks are a great option. Wear them with your current slippers. Another major win? Leg warmers! Yes and yes! Let’s get a cashmere pair that completes your loungewear look without feeling sloppy. Layer all of this together or just opt for one or two pieces, depending on your situation.
Two bonus items that are anything but extraneous. I am a super fan of this silk eye mask to get you right to sleep. I bought them for the entire extended family last year for Christmas and they’ve been a HUGE hit. A silk pillowcase also helps to prevent wrinkles and frizz. I think it would feel nice for your skin and look pretty, too:)
This is an opportunity to invest, for sure. Again with the win from Negative Underwear. You don’t wear bras much so there’s no reason to change that. Let’s just pick up a set or two that makes you feel sexy, is functional and looks beautiful with your loungewear, too. I vote for this one.
Here’s the sleeveless version of the super sexy and cozy black maxi dress at the top of the list. Personally, I think you’ll get a lot of use out of both. Feel free to layer a sweatshirt, cardigan or robe over top.
I couldn’t skip this cashmere robe, just in case…..
Remember what a genius idea leg warmers were? Well, let’s hear it for hand warmers! You can wear these at home or out. And you can just wear one if your right arm is especially cold:)
Now THIS is Negative Underwear’s sweet spot. I know. The price seems crazy. But, the Whipped Collection is truly one of a kind. Very lightweight and soft, this temperature regulating set is sort of like long underwear for the rich and famous. It’s sheer so looks extra sexy on. This also means you’ll need to layer it up or down in front of your daughter. But, it’s worth it. Try it for skiing, too!
I vote you mix and match a top and a bottom (or two….). The boy shorts with a top is a super cute loungewear option and the pants are great when it’s a little colder. There are some lovely color options, too.
Temperature regulating sheets are going to change everything. We have these. Organic, life changing, all the things.
Three silk slip dress choices and all of them great. Let’s discuss.
First, a simple silhouette that layers easily under other pieces (especially t-shirts) and shows off more of your leg. You can also sleep in any of these if you wanted to go that direction. They are all glorious for heading out into the world and layering up or down. Yes, they all go with your boots. The shorter one works with your sneakers, too.
The middle is more flattering as it emphasizes your curves more. It won’t lay flat under a t-shirt, but can be layered easily under anything else.
The right option is the most conservative and feels good for work or play. It’s also longer which will keep you warmer in especially cold months. You can layer fleece tights underneath without really showing the opaque style (which I know doesn’t appeal to you).
Do it!!!!
Let’s experiment with a body suit and see what you think. This plunge option is ideal for going out and still staying warm. Try layering it under your leather jacket or the long vest. You can absolutely just wear it with jeans, too.
Another bra and underwear option- this time from Skims. More affordable but still awesome, I think you’ll be happy to experiment with each.
You are going to LOVE this combo. Super cozy plush pieces that you can layer with the other items on this list. I especially adore the zip up jacket with one of the silk dresses.
Super affordable and truly transformational, let’s give you some options for tricky dresses and tops. Skip the bra and use the adhesive silicone cover ups for anything with a low back, front, cut outs, etc. The fashion tape sticks to the inside of fabric like double stick tape that keeps things from moving around. It’s great for wearing a plunge top, for example.
Another option is this self adhesive strapless, backless bra. You’ll find that you prefer one approach over the others. So here are some great options for experimenting.
Let’s solve your sock issues, shall we?
Feel free to buy these brands or others. The goal here to is explain your sock strategy.
First, no show socks. I prefer name brand (especially Adidas) so they don’t slip down. Wear no show socks with sneakers, loafers, flats, etc. when you want to give the impression you have a bare leg. This typically looks great with skirts, shorts, dresses and/or pants.
Next, ankle socks. Try these for sneakers or boots that are low. The sock is the same height or lower than the top of the shoe. These keep the shoes from rubbing on your ankle and giving you blisters, but ideally, you don’t really see much of the sock. Be sure to wear the color of your shoe- so a white pair for white sneakers or a black pair for black boots.
Now, crew socks. You’ll see these when you are wearing them. So, think of them as part of your outfit. Feel free to wear them with boots or sneakers. They make your outfit more casual. Typically, you’ll scrunch them down a bit. Yes, people are currently wearing them with ankle length pants. That’s totally okay. Also, in Europe, women are wearing lace versions with a 90’s vibe- with boots or shoes. The sock should be the same color or a lighter color than your shoe. So, no black socks with white shoes, if that makes sense.
I am ELATED to introduce you to Swedish Stockings. Started by a mother/ daughter duo in Sweden, these are the world’s first sustainable nylons. Usually, hosiery is made from petroleum products. These are pricey, but awesome. They are also biodegradable and have a program for returning them.
For a more affordable option, I like Hue brand.
Nude fishnets are an ideal choice in the shoulder seasons. If you feel it’s too cold to have a bare leg (or you aren’t loving your leg color at the time). Wear these with any of your boots including your docs.
For the cooler months, sheer black or black fishnets are a stellar choice. Edgy, functional and sexy, they are great with flats, boots, etc. Just skip any hosiery with sneakers.
I know you don’t love how opaque tights look. If you are cold, try a fleece lined pair with something long so no one will see the tights:)
I can’t pass up an opportunity to share Left on Friday with you. This line is designed by two active women who wanted sexy swimsuits that are functional for water sports. I know! Right?! Here are the details: Insanely soft, Smoothing coverage, Compressive when wet & dry , Dries quickly, Fade + snag resistant, Loves chlorine + salt water, Machine wash, line or tumble dry, Fabric from Italy - 46% nylon, 38% polyester, 16% Lycra®. Designed in Vancouver, BC. Made in LA or Taiwan.
Mix and match the colors on top and bottom. The one shoulder option is better with Sierra while the Reef top (which can be crossed in front or back) is better for adult swim time.
And there you have it. Maybe my favorite loungewear list yet….. Enjoy!
