Wishlist Goal: Jessica had clearly put her research skills to use when it came to style. When she made the commitment to move onto the partner track at her male dominated law firm, it was evident that she needed to up her style game. She was very firm about wanting pieces that were not sexualized in any way. She wanted a look that communicated her power and reenforced that she was an equal and should be treated as such. As a petite woman, she struggled with finding pieces on her own that would accomplish her goal. It was time to bring in an expert. We were starting almost from scratch, which was thrilling for both of us. We also knew that tailoring would be an essential component to achieving her style goals. My personal favorite part of this process was when she discovered that several of the male partners went to Nordstrom regularly to get their shoes shined. With her new shoes, she could easily join and have quality time with them. So much for needing to learn to golf….

Well, thanks to you, I’ve spent the entire day creating your magical new wardrobe while listening to the House of Love station on Spotify and it has been truly delightful. This is a big list, my friend. We’ve got big goals here and you’re ready for a full on upgrade at the office and at home. Have a great time with it. Off we go!

First up, nothing is more intimidating than a woman who can rock white or winter white. That shows elegance and confidence. In this case, the pieces will also feel luxurious. First up, wear this is a top (highly recommend) or even as a jacket. A great structured piece that is timeless, flattering and easy to pair.

I loved that skirt you found as much as you did. How about we try this as a stellar alternative for a fraction of the price without sacrificing impact? Again, this will be effortless to pair with other items on your list. For maximum awesomeness, just keep layering on the winter white.

Knee high boots are essential for your new skirts and dresses. They’ll help you avoid struggling with hosiery. The key is to keep things elevated (so you’ll need a heel) and still minimize the sex appeal for work. I’m a fan on top of the sweater above and with the winter white skirt and either pair of boots. You like to express yourself with prints and we also want to be sure that the prints for the office feel powerful and show confidence. This gorgeous paisley blouse from DVF is luxurious, timeless, flatters your frame and will mix and match easily with your collection.

Your Express coat served you well, but now it’s time for a change. This houndstooth option from Club Monaco is really great quality and integrates your masculine influences into every look. Try it with the paisley top above or the Burberry top below when you are feeling extra bold or stick with solids to bring things down a notch. Options abound!

You adore your Burberry trench and it’s ideal for your authentic personal style. Typically, you aren’t into super flashy brands. That being said, this shirt is SO on point for your style. I especially love it underneath a jacket to tone it down a bit. It’s luxurious and intimidating, masculine inspired, timeless and feels more or less creative depending on your pairing. I vote, “yes!”

Try the houndstooth coat, the Burberry shirt and these ankle length wide leg pants. SO good. Mimicking the cut of sailor pants, these will flatter and because of the length, they are easy to pair with any heel height. Try them in any color. Black is great because it will work with the Aritzia blazer further down on this list to make a suit.

If that outfit wasn’t already the greatest thing ever, we finish it off with these wingtips from the Office of Angela Scott. Her shoes are an investment, but your feet will thank you and they are super hip to show off your creativity.

Bold and still totally appropriate for work, this luxurious print dress is functional throughout the. year and can be worn with or without a blazer. Try it with the houndstooth coat to take things to the next level. Of course, you’ll only need one pair of black knee high boots. It’s hard to know without trying them on which will be your favs. Take a look at the shaft height before buying for better perspective. I found a couple of wonderful pairs of Stuart Weitzman boots on super sale at the Rack. It’s time to celebrate shopping for knee high boots just as spring hits. Whatever pair you choose, they are just right with the DVF dress above and any of the black jackets on this list.

One of my all time favorite blazers, this cropped piece from Aritzia has an effortlessly cool vibe and is still polished for work or play. You’ll get lots of use out of it and the fabric matches the Aritzia pants on this list.

These look much shorter on the model than they’ll look on you. A super flattering and comfortable pant, the Conan is a great choice for you. Try it in black or mix things up with another color, if you’d like.

Replacing your super practical black heels is a must and this pair is elegant and crazy comfortable thanks to the good people at AGL. Even better, they are on sale. And, because you love multiple textures, this elevates any outfit and feels authentic to your personal style.

Flattering colors, timeless shapes and luxurious fabrics are the key for your blouses for work. This is all the things. And, it’s on sale.

Pair that blue blouse with this blue leather jacket, if you’d like. It’s the same jacket that was listed above in green. I’d choose one or the other (either now or after you see them IRL.)

You will look incredible in a crop top. The key is selecting one that makes you feel comfortable, flatters your frame and is functional for your life. This heavy duty option from Aritzia holds it’s shape well and is just right for the weekend. You won’t believe how much you love and the color choices are delightful. Try it under the blue leather jacket for extra impact.

Virtually any of the bottoms on this list will work with this outfit. Your go-to boots are not at the level that you are, but having a slip on option makes life so much easier. This walkable pair of rain boots from Matt & Nat is a timeless pair that is crazy practical without sacrificing style. All of Matt & Nat’s products are vegan and these will be easy to maintain.

Whether it happens now or in the future, a black or navy blue Burberry trench is a great investment for you. I’m including a new option as well as some second hand choices.

Alternatively, you could opt for this masculine navy coat that also shows your shape. Claire wears lots of military inspired pieces in House of Cards and this coat really channels that vibe. It makes you more intimidating, polished and still super comfortable and practical. Also, it balances your shape nicely.

How cool is this suit!?? Try it with your wingtips or heels, depending on the day. It would also look great with your slip on black sneakers. Even better, the jacket and joggers are sold separately and you can mix and match them with the other choices on this list. Charcoal grey is lovely on you and offers up more variety for your wardrobe.

Sadly, there is no size 6, but I think we could go for the larger size and tailor or the smaller size and see if it fits. (It’s possible because of the shape of the skirt). The price is certainly right and allows for money to be spent on tailoring. Fun Fact: We’ve also got a really fabulous vegan leather a-line skirt further down on the list in navy.

This blouse feels essential to me. The top blouse on this list is winter white (ivory) while this one is true white, so they’ll each serve a separate purpose. This conservative, luxurious, timeless blouse is sure to get lots of action.

Pencil skirts were certainly on the wish list so I’ve got a beauty in two colors thanks to Ann Taylor. This petite choice is flattering for your frame and will be a fun choice to mix and match with your new and existing collection. Yes! It’s a bold color on the bottom that draws attention. Not to worry. You’ll have a plethora of tops that balance your frame either because of the shape, the print or both.

This is a solid example of that approach. Try this graphic sweater with the pencil skirt above or below. Boss Hugo Boss offers up a high quality sweater that has a one of a kind, creative, confident vibe and is still appropriate for the office with or without a jacket.

Few things are as magical as a great long sleeve dress. Roll out of bed, put it on and your outfit is complete. Try this graphic option with any of your knee high boots to further simplify your morning routine.

Another flattering shade of green that will mix and match easily and keep you feeling your best.

Pair that lovely silk blouse with this navy blue vegan leather a-line skirt from Ted Baker for the luxury win. We can work with the tailor to ensure that this skirt isn’t showing much leg, so it will feel work appropriate. Yes! You absolutely need some fresh sweatshirts. You can skip the cardigan approach with something that flatters your frame and feels incredibly cozy. This cropped sweatshirt from Aritzia is the obvious answer. Pick up multiples, if you’d like. You’ll certainly wear them.

It’s important that you have a go-to dress for nights out. This can easily be made more casual by layering the cropped sweatshirt over top. Believe it! Or, try it with a blazer for a work event (Perhaps the winter white silk option) or a leather jacket for a big night out with your husband.

Speaking of vegan leather jackets, this textured green moto style is an affordable, fun selection.

And finish off this look with flattering, current jeans from Mother. They’ll help balance your shape and give you an alternative to your skinnies. The fringe is super flattering, as well.

Let’s make sure you have a vegan leather black jacket that can be a weekend warrior. I like both of these. The Elodie one seems too cheap, right? As it turns out, it’s an incredible piece that looks cool and holds up very well.

This is the blazer we were chatting about yesterday. It’s a knit, stretchy option from Boden that is available in petite sizes and is a classic choice for the weekend.

I’m just going to take a guess that you are a Sleater-Kinney fan:) Here’s a super hip top that would look great paired with the leather a-line skirts or any of the pants and a blazer. Really, you can put it together with virtually anything on this list for a fun approach to weekend style.

Finish off this look with grey wide leg ankle pants, if you’d like. This is the same pair that is listed above in black.

Last but absolutely not least, this super hip slip on sneaker from Matt and Nat. Low key, masculine inspired but not bulky, these sneakers are truly effortless to get on and will work whether you are getting coffee, on an impromptu hike with your family or off to see a band (yes, those days will happen again).

I vote we start with Zenni. The glasses are hip and crazy affordable. This empowers you to have multiple pairs and experiment. If you are loving one style more than the others, you can invest in a more expensive pair (or two). For now, let’s have some fun.

Steps:

Head to the site.

To start looking: I vote you filter to black frames. In the end, I hope you end up with a black pair, a clear pair and perhaps even one other color, or a second black pair. The more you can filter before you start, the better off you’ll be. So, filter for your prescription, size, color and then you can experiment with shape. I’d guess that medium width is a good size for you. But you may even be able to go smaller. I’d also start with square then oval and mix things up from there. This will also help you on your hunt.
